A year ago I developed a little thing called panic attacks. Due to the fact that they were so crippling to me and the fact that I am often alone at home with all my children and then some they eventually landed me at the doctor’s office.
The events prior to this were what caused this ultimate fall in my health. I was running my in home business full time, we were in our first year of homeschooling, I was over-extended in church activities and I was still trying to keep my home perfect. Of course, all of this eventually not only ended in paralyzing panic attacks it also led to a crabby attitude, placed a huge strain on my marriage and we will not even mention the fact that it was sucking the joy out of my motherhood journey.
Homemaking is more than just simply keeping a homer spotless. As I have mentioned it is also a matter of the heart. Therefore in those moments that we feel as though we are failing we need to extend ourselves a bit of grace.
- Our homes are not always going to be in tip top shape.
- We aren’t always going to have all the answers when dealing with our children.
- We will not always meet out husband’s expectations.
- Homeschooling doesn’t look picture perfect every day.
- We can not always agree to do things outside our home.
These are just a few of the simple truths that I have to remind myself daily. These are also simple truths that we need to commit to memory and we need to share with every mom, wife, homeschooler and homemaker.
Now I am not saying that we should not try ever single day to achieve greatness. What I am saying that even on our best days that it is not going to look perfect and that this is ok. We need to not got to bed feeling defeated instead we need to relax and give ourselves grace.
Each Morning We Have……
- A chance to start over.
- A shot to learn something new.
- An ability to choose to serve God and our family to the best of our ability.
Instead of tearing ourselves down or comparing ourselves to others these are the things that I need to remember and these are the things that you should remember as well. After all, if we always end the day defeated how will we ever truly have a heart for homemaking?
