I don’t think I have seen so much division in our area like I do now. Unlike most I completely understand why there is so much division. In America, we have allowed God to be taken out of all the decisions and now we are ultimately paying the price.
So how are we suppose to react to all the things that are going on around us? Are we suppose to turn a blind eye? Boycott all things that make us angry? Blast political moves on facebook and twitter?
My friends, we are at a critical time. How we handle things during this period is very crucial and it is also very important. You see more than ever people are taking notice of how it is Christian’s are acting . They are also looking for reasons to call us out on hypocritical moves. This leaves us feeling lost and confused on what moves we should make and how we should react.
In the book of Deuteronomy, we have seen how we should react. We have been reminded the importance of not picking up habits that are deemed by others as acceptable. We have been shown the importance of making sure that all the things we do are in fact centered on Christ and Christ alone.
During this week, we also were shown something else…..
But if it makes no peace with you, but makes war against you, then you shall besiege it. Deuteronomy 20:12
We are in fact allowed to express our discomfort over things that threaten our way of life. However, this does not mean that we are allowed to be disrespectful of others. Instead, we still must be prayerful and mindful of the way that we react to all the changes that seem to be happening lighting fast. Yet, for those things that do threaten us, we are allowed to fight back……In prayer and through Christ-like actions. We must contain ourselves remembering that God loves us all but even He dislikes the sin that is in all our lives. I wonder if all the posts that I have been reading have been remembering this fact.
It is OK to be saddened for the world. It is OK to be angry. It isn’t OK to bash each other. Instead, we should be focusing on the sin. We need to focus on loving all of mankind Christian and non-Christian. We need to contribute to touching others through acts of Grace and not judgment.
Showing grace is a game changer to a non-believer.
Showing grace is a requirement.
Showing and extending grace is just what Jesus did.
We need to besiege the sin, not the person.
This isn’t exactly the popular approach at the moment. In fact, this is somewhat opposite of what any Christian wants to hear at the moment. Yet, it is the only approach that will cause real change. Image what would have happened had Christ not done the same for us…. None of us would have stood a chance at salvation and we wouldn’t have wanted to even attempt it.
Finally, I leave you with this:
for the Lord your God is he who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.’ Deuteronomy 20:4
God is handling all the messy situations that are surrounding us and God knows the outcome. It is up to us to have a simple faith that His will, will, in fact, be done. He knows how this will all end and He simply needs us to continue to be the light in a dark world.
Until Next Time Just Keep Soaring 4 Him,
