I adore my family. As a matter of fact like any other mom will tell you the people living in my home are the most favorite people in my little world. Yet my relationship with my kids and my husband aren’t my most important relationship that I choose to allow to consume my life. As a matter of fact, I strive and work on one relationship far more than I do on any other one………….
The relationship I have with my Heavenly Father.
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. Deuteronomy 6:5
Loving God with all your heart, soul and being actually equips us to love those in our homes a lot better.
- It causes us to be more compassionate.
- It causes us to serve with a humble heart.
- It causes us to help promote change.
When we choose to love God with all that we have it actually benefits us in other ways as well.
- He provides for us.
- He protects us.
- He handles us with gentle care.
In order to love God with our all, we must make a conscious choice to keep ourselves separated from all other worldly influences. Which isn’t always easy if we aren’t very careful. Yet, just like all our other relationships, it is completely worth it.
“For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. Deuteronomy 7:6
Making this lifestyle choice is a hard way to live. Those whom you thought were your friends will turn you back on you. Sometimes it may even be family members. Yet, it is important that we remain faithful.
Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations, and repays to their face those who hate him, by destroying them. He will not be slack with one who hates him. He will repay him to his face. Deuteronomy 7:9-10
Choosing to give God your all doesn’t mean that things will always go the way we want them to go. Sometimes, we will, in fact, require guidance and sometimes even instruction. After all, we are still in constant, battle with human nature.
Know then in your heart that, as a man disciplines his son, the Lordyour God disciplines you. Deuteronomy 8:5
However, God’s love for us is unconditional and He covers us in sweet grace daily.
In order to love God more than other,we must be willing to circumcise our hearts often and willing to set aside what we feel is best and rely solely on God.
Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no longerstubborn. Deuteronomy 10:16
Choosing to love God over everyone around me as been hard. However, I know without a doubt that it is certainly for the best.
Until Next Time Just Keep Soaring 4 Him,
I do most of the commenting for The Long Way To Go blog and it never ceases to amaze me how the Lord uses and confirms the different things He is teaching me through the various blog posts I read during the week.
I just thought I should share that with you. 🙂
