This week while reading through the Bible we are still in the book of Psalms.(Here is last weeks post) Did I mention I love the book of Psalms? Over the course of the week I was reminded that God is our protector. Sure we all say it often but it is so easy to forget. After all we are surrounded by so much hate in the world. It is because of all this hate that seems to have absorb the world that I have been unable to watch the news for several years now actually. Yet, Psalms 12: 5 reminds us of something.
“Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan, I will now arise,” says the LORD. “I will protect them from those who malign them.”
God hears our every single cry. He knows all that is being done to His children and He is taking it all to heart. Even when we do not feel that He is listening. God may not be reacting in the way that we would like at the time but He is still listening. After all we do serve a God who loves us.
Something we must remember however is that we must have faith. Faith that the ones around us who persecute us for our beliefs will be punished. They are going to be judged just as we are going to be judged. Yet those however who refuse to accept Christ and who affect pain on us will be punished.
We can take comfort in this passage because we know that God keeps His promises. After all He sent Jesus to wash us of our sins didn’t He? God indeed does care and we just have to have faith.
How does this apply to us women?
As women we have an important job. We are raising the future soldiers of God and often times we are persecuted because we are doing so by following the Bible like we are suppose to. This makes us a target for the world to poke at. After all if we are to compare a Christian woman with a woman of the world we will not only hear the difference it is well noticed.
These differences can be seen in the way that we conduct ourselves in our marriages. If we are following God’s design then we are being submissive to our husbands. Unlike a woman of the world we are not cutting our husband’s down we are building them up. We are willing to serve our husband just like we would serve Christ. This practice gets us poked and talked about.
Another way these differences can be seen is by the way that we treat our children. We do not put them above our husbands. We are a bit stricter on them than the rest of the world is on theirs because we know what is at stake. Often times we get accused of “brainwashing” our children because we are teaching them Biblical principles.
You can also tell because it is in the way we carry ourselves. We are modestly dressed because we know that only our husband should be allowed to see our bodies. Our demeanor is different because we are humble and we are serving our families with a servant’s heart. This causes us to be viewed as weak and an easy target.
Yet, be encouraged God hears our cries. God knows all that is happening to us. God provides us comfort through His Word. Sometimes He provides us encouragement through friends and family members. No matter which way that He does it, we can be assured that He is in fact there.
What should we do?
We need to hold on to Psalms 12:5. We need to trust that God will have His revenge on all who wish us harm. We are loved, we are cherished and we are blessed because of this. He will always be there. Instead we need to just focus on trying to live our lives based on God’s instructions. We need to study His word faithfully. We also need to make sure that we do not allow others to keep us from doing what God instructs us to do in our homes, in our marriages, with our children and in our ministries. When things get hard and we are being persecuted we simply need to remember that God is our protector.
Until Next Time Just Keep Soaring 4 Him,
This post is part of the “Blogging through the Bible” segment that Good Morning Girls is doing. Now you don’t have to be a blogger to join in. In fact the whole reason we are doing this is to encourage women to commit to reading the Bible daily. Bridget,
It’s my first time linking up here-I had a friend send me over. I’m glad I came. There are many excellent posts out there by Christian women for Christian women, but my favorites are always the ones dripping in His Word.
Your post is encouraging to me. I live in a high-cult area. I always feel spiritual attack, but some days I feel closer to defeat than others. It is true what you say, “often times we are persecuted because we are doing so by following the Bible like we are suppose to.” The hardest examples of these on me personally are when I feel judged by other Christian women who may feel we are “too literal” or “too strict.”
Thank you for your reminder today of just Who is it Who goes before me and Who stands behind.
Blessings,
I love the title of God our Protector. Thanks for hosting.
I do love that He is our protector. Thanks for always pointing us back to Christ. 🙂
Thanks Bridget. It’s late 🙂
