It is easy to assume that when you get married you are going to live happily ever after. After all the story books that we were read said that when we were little. They didn’t mention anything about your husband losing his job, kids running you ragged or one of you stepping out on the marriage. Yet, in real life that is what happens to a lot of us. This is be cause Love isn’t clean. It is however in these moments that we grow closer together or we just fall apart. It is up to us to decide which we are going to do.
Recently I was given the honor of reading Darlene Schacht’s newest book Messy Beautiful Love: Hope and Redemption for Real-Life Marriages and I must say if you are looking to get in the heart of what marriage is all about then this book is for you!! Right off the get go she starts sharing some of her most vulnerable moments in her marriage. She shares her feelings, her fears and her triumphs. I haven’t read a book in a long time that made me cry and laugh. She reminded me that love just isn’t clean all the time. It is in fact messy at moments.
Even though Darlene shares all these moments with the reader, she is able to cause you to pause and take notice as she asks you the reader to complete challenges. She backs her stories up with scriptures that helped her get through the difficult times. You feel as though Darlene is right there with you cheering you on. Because, well, she is!!
Who Would I Recommend This Book For:
For me I think that this book should be given to every new bride. I also think it should be given to all women who are in that stage in their marriage struggling to find peace. This book provides encouragement and reminders that love isn’t clean. In fact it is messy. But, with Christ at the center there is always hope. This is certainly a book I intend to read over and over again.

This book is making me SO excited! I’m so glad to be seeing it everywhere. I had been asking on another review if they recommended it for new brides, so I’m glad to see you do! I’m a new fiancee, but I’m trying hard to prepare biblically for my marriage. We’re tying the knot in 2015 and I plan to keep growing until then, as does my honey.
