Ideally, I would always be awake before the children awake. They would wake up cheerful and happy. Everyone would always know where their shoes were just when we needed them, the house would always be clean when we started our day and well nothing would ever get lost….But, then there is reality……
Most days, our mornings can be a struggle. It really isn’t anyone’s fault. The fact is there are 6 people in our home with 6 different personalities and there are only two of those personalities who really even like mornings. Now, as a mom, we can let our hectic mornings set the tone for the whole day or we can reclaim the day.
As a homemaker and a homeschooling mom you can demand a redo………..
I have been asked a few time what this redo is and well it really is simple. We stop everything and start over. I make sure that we first discover what it is that isn’t working to begin with. Honestly, in our home, it is usually one of a few things….
Have we invited God into our day through devotions and prayer? If the answer is no then we know we have to start there.
Is someone having a hard time? If so then before we can redo our day then we need to address that. Typically a simple one on one conversation with said person can help a lot.
Do we have all the materials we need to start the day set out? If not then guess as a team we need to search for them.
Has something unexpected jumped into our plans? Adapt your schedule to fit it.
Once you have discovered what is causing the morning craziness it really does help with reclaiming the day. Therefore, it really is important to stop and simply figure out what isn’t working.
Once you begin to reclaim your day don’t allow yourself to worry about being behind. Everything will, in fact, get done and it will really all be OK. Sometimes we allow ourselves to really become a slave to our own schedules. Dare, to live in the moment.
So the next time your morning doesn’t go the way you think it should don’t let it ruin your whole day. Instead, stop and reclaim it.
Until Next Time Just Keep Soaring 4 Him,
I would like to invite you to my Facebook group Christian Homemakers in Training where we dive into homemaking, motherhood, marriage and group devotions. After all, we all need a safe place to grow together, right?
