Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. Luke 9:23
In today’s day and age, there has never been more reason to keep your self-clean and pure. We have trouble and temptation everywhere that we turn. It is on television, the internet, our neighborhood and even in our own homes. We need to check the things that we are doing and posting for all the world to see. After all, nonbelievers are watching and waiting to say “See look what they just did and they call themselves a Christian”.
When we are posting things on the internet we need to think “Would I be ashamed for my God to see this?” If the answer is yes then you better remove yourself from that “like” and “share” button. Also, check where those cute pictures are coming from. Every time you “share” a picture you are supporting that page and what it stands for. Also be mindful what you are looking up on the internet, after all, do you want a repairman to see what you have been looking at?
When watching tv and movies would you be ashamed if Jesus comes and sat in your Living room to join in for your downtime in front of the tube? I myself am guilty of this one because anyone who knows me knows I love drama television however the Lord has laid it on my heart to give up those type of things. Because I know myself I need not fill myself with such things. The same with music.
How about when we are getting annoyed with the lady at the return counter. Do we show Christ love through our actions? Or do we act like the rest of the world and pitch a fit to get our way? Or the waitress who has gotten our order wrong? Do we politely explain we need it fixed or do we again show our old natured selves?
We have Christians have a tall order to fill and yet the moment we took the vow to pick up our crosses daily and to follow Christ we did not agree to just do these things every once in a while but daily. We must remember that others are watching us. They are watching the decisions we make, the things we say, the way we act and the way we carry ourselves.
Until Next Time Just Keep Soaring 4 Him,
I would like to invite you to my Facebook group Christian Homemakers in Training where we dive into homemaking, motherhood, marriage and group devotions. After all, we all need a safe place to grow together, right?
