Negativity is all around us. It is in the news, on social media and it is even found it’s way into our churches. It seems as though negativity has consumed all those around us and if we aren’t careful then the negativity will also consume our homes. As wives and mothers, it is up to us to keep that from happening. After all, we control the tone of our homes.
As Women of Our Homes:
We must safe guard our homes against negativity that the world would like to penatrate our homes with.
It is up to us to provide a relaxing and nurturing environment for our husbands.
We must provide a home where our children can thrive spiritually and emotionally.
In order to safeguard our family and our homes, we must safeguard ourselves. We achieve this by soaking in God’s words daily. We have to ensure that we are getting alone time with God every single day. Doing so allows us to truly keep our eyes on Christ and it helps to mold our hearts. Which will help us to serve our families with joyful and willing hearts. This, of course, will vibrate out of us and into our homes.
We need to trust our instincts about relationships. Being involved in toxic and negative relationships can bring down our own moods. Guess what happens then? We become negative and toxic as well. We must ask ourselves constantly does this particular friend build me up spiritually or do they bring out a negative side of me that is seeping out into my home?
Play uplifting music in your home: Music has such a huge impact on us even when we don’t realize it. Classical music can help us (and our children) to relax. While contemporary Christian music can cause us to want to sing, dance and worship.
Pray for your family: Trust God to guard your family against all the negativity of the outside world and trust that God will lead, guide and direct them. He wants to do this for us but we have to be willing to invite Him to do so.
Unplug from outside influences as much as you can: Social media can consume us and other unsavory influences can seep in from all kinds of media outlets. Instead of allowing these into our homes 24/7 let’s promote family greatness by doing activities together as a family instead of allowing technology to occupy our time.
Do family devotions and prayers together: Not only do we need to do devotions on our own but we also need to do them together as a family. It is so important to grow spiritually as a family.
Make sure to make yourself available to talk or pray with those that God has entrusted to you: We should never too busy to pray with our husband or our children when they need it most. After all, they are our greatest ministry.
In the world today, it is becoming harder and harder to safeguard our homes from negativity. It has also never been so urgent that we do so. What are some ways that you are safeguarding your home?
