It’s hard to believe that the holiday season is right around the corner. As much as I love the holidays’ something that I have noticed I must be careful about is making sure I am still making sure in the hustle and bustle that I am connecting with my husband. After all, it is easy in the midst of planning events, shopping for gathering and preparing special meals to allow our marriage to take a backseat.
Ways to Stay Connected During the Holidays:
We all know the importance of staying connected with our husbands. But in the midst of holiday craziness, we sometimes may find it difficult to do so. Here are some ways to stay connected during the holidays that are sure to help.
- Say No! Seriously we do not have to say yes to every gathering or event. Keep your calendar simple and allow yourself time to breathe and keep your focus on your family and your marriage.
- Keep it small. Often times we women have the tendency to go overboard. This causes us to obsess over details that in the end truly do not matter. No one is going to care what you serve but they are going to remember the memories that are made. Keeping things small also means that we are allowing for time to continue to connect with our husbands.
- Keep a date night. It’s easy to cancel date nights due to the holiday season. Yet, in this busy seasons, we really do need them. Even though the bank account may be screaming you can’t afford it strive to do something together even if it is a movie rented off of Amazon or from Redbox. These cheap dates can truly be some of the greatest.
- Allow him to help. It’s hard to give up control. However, if your man wants to help you shop, cook, decorate or whatever, for the love of all that is great let him! Working together to accomplish holiday greatness allows you to both works together and communicate even more. Not to mention it takes some of the stress off of you! Truly it is a win/win.
The holidays can be a crazy and busy time. However, they do not and should not take from connecting with your husband every chance you can get. Who knows making the extra effort could make this the best holiday season yet.
