Here recently I have had to avoid Facebook. Not because it is time sucker but because it has begun promoting the wonderful thing of stereotyping. People are running so scared at the moment that they have forgotten that all life has a purpose. Instead, they are only focused on themselves. This has become more and more evident as I see friends and family members updated Facebook status comments.
This my friends is what stereotyping does. It causes confusion, it causes unneeded fear and it most certainly causes us not to fulfill God’s purpose. There is nothing good that can come from stereotyping another human being. Nothing at all.
“Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be putinto your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” He also told them a parable: “Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit? A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother’s eye. ~Luke 6:37-42
Many of you reading this are more than likely nodding your head in agreeance. You would never buy into a stereotype propaganda. After all that is just craziness. Sadly you would be wrong because every single one of us do it every single day. It has become such a part of us a lot of times we don’t even realize we are doing it!!
For Example:
Homeschooling children do not get the socialization they need.
Stay at home moms have it easy compared to working moms.
Christian’s are closed minded when it comes to certain political situations.
All Syrian’s should be feared because they are all terriorists.
Homosexual people are bad and immoral people.
These are just 4 prime examples of some of the sterotypes that plague the great United States of America right now. In fact it is happening so much that all over social media people are bashing each other and are actually ending relationships. Some people have even gotten to the point that they are actually scared to voice their opinions for fear they will be persecuted by their fellow peers.
When did we become so self-absorbed that we have lost our ability to look at individual people and love them the way God intened for us to? When did it become OK to judge a person because they have been labeled? When did we loose our ability to be compassionate toward others?
Our goal is not to judge people into submission to what we think and feel their life should look like. Our goal is to be a light in a dark world. To show others what Christ looks like through our actions. How can we do this if we are choosing to bash one another?
The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” ~ Mark 12:31
I for one am very scared of what the world has become. Not because it is filled with so much diversity. Instead I am fearful for my children because we have lost our love for humanity. Sterotyping does nothing but bring confusion.
Until Next Time Just Keep Soaring 4 Him,
