Homemaking is a passion of mine. Not because I am extremely good at it and my home is always spotless. No, the reason it is a passion of mine is because it is often misrepresented. Homemaking is more than vacuuming floors and scrubbing toilets. It reaches further than healthy home cooked meals and balancing a checkbook.
Homemaking is a matter of the heart. It is something that we create within ourselves and we pour out into our families. It doesn’t matter how amazing your cleaning skills are or how well you can cook, if you don’t perform those tasks with the right kind of heart then your home will be doomed.
So what does this mean?
It means in order to focus on our homemaking skills we need to search our hearts. We need to search them to make sure that we are doing these day to day tasks with an openness and with thanksgiving.
We need to make sure that we are striving to provide a wonderful environment that is fitting for our family not because the world says we are less of a woman if we don’t, instead we need to do them because we truly want to be an effective servant of God.
We need to make sure that we aren’t trying to top the woman’s next doors awesomeness and we need to realize that we are just as great in other areas.
We need to eagerly trust that God has our home, our heart, and our homemaking in His master plan.
We need to make sure that we are praying over our homemaking and all of it’s many details that are mixed in with it.
We need to make sure that our family is getting the best of us.
This week I encourage you to search your heart and your homemaking. Starting next week, we will dig deep into our homemaking. I will share with you things that God as revealed to me and I will also share with you things that we have put in place in our home to make it all run a little smoother. If there is something that you would like to see covered then by all means place your questions in the comments.
