You know there are times when we think that a situation is hopeless. Moments when we feel as those reconciliation among fellow peers will never be met. In fact a lot of times when those relationships we think that nothing will ever get better. We give up home. We seem to forget that age old saying ” Time can heal all things”.
I was reminded of this phrase as I continued reading through the Bible with Courtney from Women Living Well. Jacob stole basically everything from his brother. He took is birthright and his blessing. Years later after hiding from his brother Esau (who had vowed to kill him) they actually reconcile!!! Now I am not saying from there on out things were a bed of roses for the two brothers but, we do know that they had steps in the right direction.
You know this made me think of pass relationships. We all have them. Those relationships that we feel will never become whole again. Yet, when God has a hand in something we know that this can be possible. In fact healing can begin. Now this doesn’t mean that we should not make an effort to make things right. After all we also see from our reading this week that Jacob in fact showered his brother with gifts to make amends. Which leads to my next thought……..
Shouldn’t we after seeking God’s guidance seek reconciliation?
Yes!! God does not like when His people are living in discord. he doesn’t like friction among His followers. We should be willing to make the first move to fix things. Even if this means that we are uncertain of the outcome. Once God lays it on our hearts to move forward in the relationship it is up to us to be willing to bow ourselves down before that person in humbleness just as Jacob did when he referred to himself as Esau’s servant.
Oh imagine how different the world could be if we were to in fact follow this principle and be willing to make the first move. I pray that if there is a relationship in your life that has been lingering in your mind that this week you will in fact take time to step forward and make the move to reconciliation. After all time can in fact heal all things…………….
