We live in a very divided world. One that if we are not careful we will offend at least one person daily. If you state your opinion or beliefs and they differ from someone else’s then it is apparent that you are arguing or a bigot. Christian’s all over are either taking these bashing with great stride or they are reverting to simply keeping their thoughts to themselves. Others, however, have decided that it is best to simply agree with the majority of the people to simply keep the fuss down. There is a, however, serious danger that comes with conforming to what the world believes to stop future uncomfortable conversations. The danger being that before we know it we simply begin to believe the worlds lies, no one knows where you stand on topics and Christianity becomes watered down truths.
Soon enough we become just like the world only we claim to know Christ. Yet, there is no way for others to view us as different. After all, why would they? We chose to conform instead of standing firm in our beliefs. We decided to stand down when we should have stood up. We begin to blend when we should be standing out.
If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the world, why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations— Colossians 2:20
Paul warns us about this in Colossians. When we died in Christ we were subjected to a different standard of living. No longer can we look at the sins of the world the same way we did before. No longer can we turn a blind eye to the sins that are going on in our own lives and the lives around those that are around us.
As true Christians, we will be bashed, yelled at, called names and ridiculed. Our actions, words, and interactions with others will be put under the microscope. There will be no stone left unturned….Sort of like the early Church was treated….Minus the whole being poisoned thing (just give it time).
But, the dangers of conforming is far worse……….
When we conform with world-views we are allowing Satan to win.
When we conform with world-views we are allowing others to silence us.
When we conform with world-views we are denying God in our lives.
When we conform with world-views we are keeping souls from being saved.
Dare to be different friends. Instead of focusing on the backlashing that will come from being different cling to God and His truths. Trust me, friends, I know it isn’t easy but our end rewards are worth far more than this world could ever provide for us.
Until Next Time Just Keep Soaring 4 Him,
I would like to invite you to my Facebook group Christian Homemakers in Training where we dive into homemaking, motherhood, marriage and group devotions. After all, we all need a safe place to grow together, right?
