My week had been insane. Everything I had tried to do seemed to turn into mud. I was tired, frustrated and annoyed. I knew what my vision was and yet it wasn’t going as I had planned. I was convinced Satan was attacking my efforts. Surely I was doing what God wanted!?!?!
There was a problem with this logic……
- I was trying to accomplish things.
- I was trying to change things in my life.
- I was working hard toward goals without any thought about how God felt about them.
- I hadn’t taken the time to seek God’s guidance on how to achieve these particular goals if they were in fact from Him.
- I was forgetting to allow God to fight for me!
The Lord your God who goes before you will himself fight for you, just as he did for you in Egypt before your eyes, and in the wilderness, where you have seen how the Lord your God carried you, as a man carries his son, all the way that you went until you came to this place.’ Deuteronomy 1:30-31
The Lord wants to fight our battles for and with us. He longs to provide us with all the things that He has promised. As a matter of fact if we would take the time to look back on our Christian walk we could pinpoint times that He has done just that. We would remember how far He has already taken us.
Yet, for some reason when things are going right we forget all these moments.
We forget all the things He has held our hands through.
We forget that He is fighting for us daily.
Instead, we begin to wonder why things are going wrong.
We begin to fear what is happening because we are certain that there has to be something wrong.
You shall not fear them, for it is the Lord your God who fights for you.’
Deuteronomy 3:22
In moments of uncertainty, we need to remain calm and focus on our protector.
We need to trust that all those things He has laid on our hearts will come to pass in His time.
We need to know that He is going to fulfill His promises.
We should take comfort in the fact that he is fighting our battles for us. Therefore, we need to simply move aside and let Him have control.
Instead, let’s share with those around us what God has already done for us.
Share with them the many blessings you already have.
And get ready because once we step back we will be showered with more greatness than we could have ever even dreamed up.
“Only take care, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. Make them known to your children and your children’s children— Deuteronomy 4:9
