There are times when I must step back from everything and ponder the way and the reasons that I do things.
Am I being productive manager of our home?
Am I effectively reaching my children?
Am I fulfilling the needs of my husband?
Am I serving the purpose of this ministry effectively?
Am I actively serving God in the areas that He is leading me?
These are a few of the many things that I ponder about myself. If we have learned nothing from this week it is that taking time to ponder our actions, thoughts and motives is a bit important.
Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. ~Proverbs 4:26
Evaluating ourselves regularly causes us to get a bit real about ourselves. It causes us to really think about the the paths that we are taking in our lives and if those paths are actually those that reflect God’s wisdom or are we following the ways of the world.
You see it is so easy to get sidetracked. It’s even easier to get mixed up with the wrong crowds of people that we ourselves have vowed to set ourselves apart from.
Regular evaluations allow us to open ourselves up so that we can seek out God’s direction Instead we must work for it. Too many times I hear people say that God is not using them. The simple truth is that we have to seek Him and our direction. . He doesn’t simply place neon signs around for us to follow.
It has never been as important as it is now to evaluate ourselves with all the worldly influences that we have going on around us. If you don’t believe me turn on the news, social media or even look around the neighborhood that you live in.
Your turn to get real:
When is the last time that you have sat down and really pondered your Christian walk?
Are you finding that your are following more of the worlds ways or are you following God’s ways?
Until Next Time Just Keep Soaring 4 Him,
You’re right- It is SO easy to get side-tracked. I was actually just evaluating and mulling things over the other night when I was praying. I guess it’s meditating on Proverbs that led me there too! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
I have been loving Proverbs just for this very reason. To sit down and evaluate why I am doing things and where my influences come from. It is always good to do a self-check every so often!
Proverbs I find is a great compass, it often steers me into a new direction when things go pear shape. I love this post!!
