Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor is in vain. Psalms 127:1
I suffer from a condition called “once I set my mind to it I will work myself silly trying to make it work” syndrome. Now this trait is not exactly a bad thing however it can become a bad thing if I didn’t ask God if that is what He wanted. Once these things don’t pan out for me I have to stop and ask myself “Is God the center of your journey?” . Often times the answer is no. I was working for self glorification or I was doing it to please the wrong person. I was doing these things without God’s blessing.
This same thing can happen in our homes. When we reach out to our husbands, children or even doing our ordinary tasks during the day we must remember to ask for God’s blessings. We have to remember to make God the center of our daily journey. After all we need His help to get through the day to day tasks to remain focused on the true picture and to insure that we are doing things that are pleasing to Him. The way we care for our family’s is just as important to God as joining the mission field. In fact it is our number one mission field.
So how do we make sure that we are putting God in the center of building up our homes, ministries and all the other things we are involved in?
First we need to study God’s word. What is it that God is trying to tell you through His scripture? I am sure I have told you all before but I am a firm believer in the fact that God reveals to us things that we need to see during each season of our lives. One certain scripture will be viewed to us a certain way in one season of life and we can look at it again later on and learn something new. The Holy Spirit reveals to us what we need when we need it. But it is up to use to crack open our Bibles to find it.
Secondly we need to pray and pray hard. We need a strong prayer life. Our prayer life is how we communicate with God. It is how He also communicates with us. We need to be specific when we pray. Pray for things that you are wanting to pursue. Explain to Him in detail your thought process. We can not only gain strength from talking with God but we can also gain direction and understanding during this time as well.
Until we start inviting God into our day to day operations we are doing all of our labor in vain. We are not truly having God in the center of our journey. In order to do things to please God we have to make sure these are things that are actually pleasing to Him. How are we suppose to know that if we do not open our Bibles and pray about it.
Your goal this week is to ask for God’s direction. Truly mediate on it. Then focus in those things that He reveals to you.
Until Next Time Just Keep Soaring 4 Him,
I would like to invite you to my Facebook group Christian Homemakers in Training where we dive into homemaking, motherhood, marriage and group devotions. After all, we all need a safe place to grow together, right?
Hi Bridget. We neighbors at Joan’s today. I completely agree we need to connect with the Lord through Word and prayer to put Him in the center of our lives. We also need to trust and obey His leadership. I’m afraid I too easily follow my plans and purposes. My prayer is to not only know what the Lord wants for me, but to also follow through and do it.
I think it is easy sometimes to think that our way could possibly be the best way. It isn’t till we truly look at the situation that we see where we may have take a wrong turn or two. Thank you so much for stopping by.
Great reminder. May we remember He invites us into His plans & purposes. May we seek His will & ways above our own each day. Glad to have visited from Titus 2sday.
I am so glad you stopped by and were able to gain some encouragement today.
Yes we can get so busy running that we can leave God behind! Thank you for sharing your awesome thoughts with us here at “Tell Me a Story.” http://letmetelluastory.blogspot.com/
It is so true. Sadly God is the only one we should never leave behind. Thank you for stopping by.
Yes, it’s an everyday, everyway thing to do. The Word and the focus on the Lord through prayer, through love, through concern. Thank you much.
I agree it has to be an everyday thing that we take time to seek what it is God would have us to do and to make sure we are on the right track. Thank you so much for stopping by.
So simple and difficult at the same time. Reading His word and seeking His will go hand and hand. Thanks for the great reminder.
It really is!! It is so easy to get caught up in life that we forget that we need to stop and make sure that God is at life’s very center. Thank you so much for stopping by.
Bridget…my favorite point “Until we start inviting God into our day to day operations we are doing all of our labor in vain.” How true it is! Thank you for sharing your post at Monday’s Musings. Have a great week.
Thank you so much for hosting. I hope you have a wonderful week as well 🙂
This was truly a blessing to me. Prayer is indeed a very important part of our lives. It is so important that we pray for our husbands and our marriages. Thank you for your inspiration.
