As I walk closer and closer to the Lord I have noticed a few things. There is a beauty in the world like none other. Everything that God created is simply amazing and well I am finding myself with a deeper more in-depth need to reach out to others. Isn’t that we are suppose to do? Reach out to others? Why most certainly it is!!
In doing so we need to also make sure that we are on guard. We must be. There are so many people and things in this world that can lead us astray if we are not careful. In fact dare I say you even need to be on guard when you are reading blog posts. Sad but true. It is so easy to be sucked in by people who are sharing false truths. Those that do not line up with God’s word. Even those who make sinful actions seem harmless. Yes, we must be guarded. Guarded by what we see , hear, say and those who we associate ourselves with.
Being on guard doesn’t mean that it is just from things that can physically harm ourselves. Some of the most dangerous things can be the very things we find harmless. For instance, what about preachers who just tickle our ears. Those who do not actually give us any meat. I recently posted an article about Joel Osteen on my personal FB profile and I was shocked that I actually had people defending him. Yes he is a great speaker and motivator. However, he does not teach the whole people. These are things we must be on guard from!!
We must stand firm on our beliefs and what God has revealed to us. I am pretty sure half my family thinks that I am crazy because I care so greatly for this ministry. Yet, God has placed this ministry on my heart and it has become a part of me. The same with the way my husband and I raise our children. Even how we handle our marriage. We must stay firm. This is the only way that we are going to make a difference. I see far to many Christians walking around striving to look like everyone else. Conforming to the environment that is around them. Why?!? Why in the world would we want to conform we are serving a God who can do far more for us then anyone else in this world.
The next word is courageous. Not only do we need to be on guard and stand firm we need to be courageous. Now this one is a bit hard for most. Myself included at times. You see it isn’t easy when we refuse to conform and the world seems to start to turn against us. We as humans long to belong. We will seek any means we possibly can to do so.Yet, this is not being courageous and this is not standing firm. This is being like everyone else. When we do this we are not showing others that we are different because we serve a greater God. This is showing the world that we aren’t fully relying on the promises that God has given us. We are showing God that we care more about what the world thinks about us then we do about what He thinks about us. Being courageous means that you are willing to stand up for your beliefs. You are willing to suffer for your beliefs. It means that you are fully trusting in Christ and Christ alone.
Be strong. Life throws a lot of punches doesn’t it. We end up forming relationships with friends to just find out that they are no good for us. We put hopes in family members that turn their backs on us because we are a bit different then they are. We face giants daily with sins that seem to be so easy for others to truiphm over. Yet, we must stay strong. We must hold on fast to what we know deep down is right. This is why studying our Bibles is so important. You see God’s word is what get’s us through the hard times. It is what carries us to the next day. We need to be in constant prayer with our Lord so that He can guide and direct us in the ways that we need to go. Yes, this is how we become strong in Christ. This is what gets us through some of the darkest moments of our live.
Friends, stay guarded, stand firm, be courageous and be strong. This is how we are going to make it though these troublesome times and this is what is going to help us glorify God.
Until Next Time Just Keep Soaring 4 Him,
I would like to invite you to my Facebook group Christian Homemakers in Training where we dive into homemaking, motherhood, marriage and group devotions. After all, we all need a safe place to grow together, right?
This is a great post. Yes, we must be careful of those that tickle our ears but give us nothing. We need to know the truth and plant our feet deeply into God’s word. I think of the false teachers in Paul’s time who led many away from the truth.
Thanks for sharing and may you continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord.
Yes, it is so sad that there are so many false teachers and yet this is a problem that has been going on for years. Thank you for stopping by <3
Thank you for the gentle reminder of how a Christian must walk in this life when serving our Lord.
