This month I was excited to join in with Courtney from Women Living Well as she does her “Making our Homes A Haven” fall series. She hosts this series every year and every year I participate . Of course I am able to refocus on my family and the tone of the house seems to benefit as well.
For her first challenge Courtney asks for you to light a candle daily and to use this candle as a reminder to pray for peace in your home. Often times we for get to actually pray over our homes and those in it. The candle helps me to always remember. Now I place mine in the living room because this is the room that I spend the most time in. In the living room is where I play with the children, where I do my devotions, where my family gathers for family time and it is also where I write to you all. So placing my candle in this room made more sense for me.
So why are we praying for peace in our homes? A lot of times I think that we as women we get stressed over the possible tensions in our home. Mom’s you know what I am talking about. I mean we have the kids arguing with each other, bills we are juggling and well this list could go on forever. Praying for peace helps calm us. It helps sooth us. I have no doubt in my mind that God steps in and takes control.
Now does this mean that our kids are not going to argue? Nope
Does this mean that our bills are just going to pay themselves? Nope
Does this mean that our deadlines will all be met? Nope
What it does mean is that we are allowing God to step in. We are allowing Him to step in. We are allowing Him to provide us with peace and comfort.
We ladies hold the keys to a lot of things in our homes. One of the main keys we hold is the one that controls the mood in our homes. Don’t you think that it is time that we invite God in to help us promote a peaceful environment?
