Negativity is all around us. It is in the news (this is why I rarely watch the news), in our extended families and even in our homes. More frequently however we deal with it in our minds because we are our own worse enemies. The problem with all this negativity is that if we allow it in then eventually it can affect our health, our moods, our families, our spirituality and ultimately our relationship with God. I don’t know about you but I do not want to have anything in my life that is going to affect my relationship with my Heavenly Father.
Once I am faced with my own negative thoughts or feeling my first plan of action is PRAYER!! You can never pray for anything too small or too big. God wants us to share everything with Him. Prayer should be one of our main defenses against negativity.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people
Ephesians 6:18
Still dealing with those negative thoughts try quoting some scripture. Have them jotted down somewhere handy. Somewhere that you will see them or be able to pull them out easily. I have been knowing to write verses down and put them on my bathroom mirror or even the refrigerator. May look silly but hey it works.
Here is my Favorite
The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. Psalms 18:2
Finally, try turning all those negatives into a positive. Kids driving you crazy be thankful you have kids because there are so many who would love to have one. Husband trying your patience at least our husbands are at home and safe. Your job making you antsy be thankful you have a job there are so many who are without work right now that it is truly unreal. Annoyed with housework imagine your life without all those rooms and their contents how happy would you be then.
If after all this I am still having a hard time then I take time to count my many blessings. Amazing how this will get your mind off your problem. We mind me of the old hymnal.
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
Count your blessings, see what God hath done!
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
We are always going to be faced with trails and negativity. It is how we deal with these problems that make the biggest difference. Your assignment put some of these methods to work next time you are feeling the weight of the world. Don’t forget to tell me how you did!!
Until Next Time Just Keep Soaring 4 Him,
I would like to invite you to my Facebook group Christian Homemakers in Training where we dive into homemaking, motherhood, marriage and group devotions. After all, we all need a safe place to grow together, right?
This. So much this. Negativity is already prevalent. We just need how to handle them properly.
