Thanksgiving season is going full force in our home. The children and I have been talking about the importance of giving thanks for our many blessings and we have even started all the preparations for the big day that we will all gather around our table to feast.
This week while we were reading in Number’s we have been reading about the Israelites preparations. They are preparing to enter the land of Cannan. In doing so, they have lots of things that they are getting in order. They are being divided up so that each tribe will know how they are supposed to serve, they are receiving guidance on how to keep themselves pure and they are also learning how they are to give thanks. Yes, we serve a God of great detail and as always He mapped it all out so that His people would know just what He wanted.
One thing that struck me is that at the beginning of a work day, at the end of a work day Moses prayed. At the beginning and at the end of every new adventure again Moses would be found in prayer. He prayed for the protection of God’s people. Of course, God being a God of faithfulness…..He delivered.
So they set out from the mount of the Lord three days’ journey. And the ark of the covenant of the Lord went before them three days’ journey, to seek out a resting place for them. And the cloud of the Lord was over them by day, whenever they set out from the camp. And whenever the ark set out, Moses said, “Arise, O Lord, and let your enemies be scattered, and let those who hate you flee before you.” And when it rested, he said, “Return, O Lord, to the ten thousand thousands of Israel.” ~Numbers 10:33-36 (ESV)
It is so easy to remember all of God’s provisions during the holiday seasons. However, it takes more of an effort to do so for no reason at all other than because we serve and because just like with the Israelites God protects us and provides everything we need.
We may be in the season that is designed for most of us to remember to give thanks. However- I would encourage you all to join me as I strive to do just as Moses and I take time daily to simply thank God and I take comfort in the fact that He will deliver what I need.
Until Next Time Just Keep Soaring 4 Him,
