Last week I realized that I have been a virtual assistant for 5 years! Of course, this isn’t something that I have shared often on this site but in the spirit of letting you all into my life even more than you already are, I decided to answer a question that I get a lot of when I post about my VA work. Not to mention it is much easier to answer the “what in the world is a virtual assistant?” question with a link instead of constantly repeating myself.
What in the World is a Virtual Assistant?
A virtual assistant’s main goal is to help his/her client manage their online business. To help take the pressure off them to do tasks that they don’t excel at so that they can focus their energy on tasks that they are good at. A virtual assistant works hand in hand with a website owner to make the website that they represent the best that it can be.
It would be easy to say that anyone can be a virtual assistant. However, that isn’t really the case. Being a virtual assistant requires lots of time and energy. It also requires the ability to learn new tasks, stay on top of the ever-changing blogging world and more. It this still sounds like something you would love, let’s discuss some of the types of virtual assistants.
What in the World can a Virtual Assistant Do?
SEO Management: This VA goes in and cleans up their client’s SEO post so that they are more likable by Google and other search engines (this is the VERY short answer)
Content Creator: Ghostwriting is a great way to generate an income for multiple clients and is always in high demand.
Printable Creation: Printables are huge. If you have an eye for design then creating printables may be somthing that you would enjoy. This also can be a job that you freelance or you can take on exclusive clients. The possibilities are endless.
Social Media Management: If you love working on social media then this may just be the job for you. In social media management, you are the voice of the brand.
Content Manager: Content managers help manage a websites content calendar, helps with research, and even helps with contributors.
Graphics Specialist: If you love making images then this is your dream job!
Series Manager: With a series manager you will be helping a website owner manage a blogging series. The virtual assistant would contact contributors, upload freebies, email winners of content and whatever else the website owner needs.
Business Plan Consultant: If mapping out business goals is your idea of fun then this is for you!
As you can tell the possibilities are endless in the virtual assistant job field. In fact, there are more skills being added every single day and I am almost certain that this is a job field that isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
